Hammer + Clay offers custom horse hair pottery. The custom vases are made using your horse's hair to create a unique design that honors your horse through a piece of art.

Pit Fire or Raku Kiln

After vases are thrown on the pottery wheel, the pottery is heated to approximately 1300 degrees in an outdoor pit fire or Raku kiln.

Applying the Hair

Once the vase is red-hot, it is pulled from the fire and hair is wrapped around it. What is left is a beautiful carbon design unique to the horse.

Finishing

The vase is then cleaned of debris and sealed with a UV protectant which preserves the design.
